Malign tumor was diagnosed in a 52-year-old female patient three years ago in her left breast. During surgery the tumorous part of the breast was removed, then they started chemotherapy. Due to the increase of tumor markers she was examined this year, during which a recrudescing tumor was perceived in the operated breast, which was confirmed by biopsy. But in addition to this, they saw a deformation in segment 7 of the liver during the CT examination, which they suspected to be spread. In addition to repeated operation of the breast they also offered removal of the deformation perceived in the liver. But she wanted to make sure that the deformation found in the liver was really a spread.
The performed PET/CT examination also indicates the tumor recrudescing in the left breast well, the centres of which show intense, diseased accumulation compared to neighbouring breast tissue. However, there is no diseased marker intake in the deformation in the liver, which excludes the spreading nature thereof. This way the patient could avoid a high-risk operation, and at the same time could make sure, that there is no remote spread at any other place.
